Today’s Reflection
How I wish my bent body could walk upright into
the familiar sanctuary.
But I can worship you anywhere . . . from my bed
I am in your presence. Praise be!

Today’s Scripture
There was also a prophet, Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was of a great age, having lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, then as a widow to the age of eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped there with fasting and prayer night and day.
—Luke 2:36–37 (NRSVUE)
Prayer for the Week
God, we have always been dependent on you for every step and every breath. You have never left us, even as we age and wear these bodies out. As we rely more and more on others, remind us to rely on you the most. Amen.
