Mothers of the Word, an Inspiring Mother’s Day Reflection

Inspiring Mother’s Day Reflection: Women Who Carry the Word

Mother’s Day was this past Sunday in Santa Claus, Indiana, but the meaning behind it still matters today. While the flowers might be fading and the cards are tucked away, the impact of women who carry the Word of God continues. These women show quiet strength, deep faith, and powerful influence.

This week at church, we have been reflecting on more than just being thankful for moms. We are remembering the work of faith that women do every day in small, meaningful ways.

What It Means to Carry the Word

Carrying the Word does not just mean reading Scripture out loud or leading a Bible study. It means living it.

It shows up when:

  • A woman trusts God during hard times
  • She teaches love and patience by example
  • She prays for her family and friends
  • She leans on Scripture when life feels heavy

This kind of faith may not be loud, but it is life-changing.

Mary Carried the Word

One of the best examples of carrying the Word is Mary, the mother of Jesus. She carried Jesus in her body, but she also carried God’s promise in her heart.

When the angel told her she would become the mother of the Savior, she said yes. She trusted even though she was young and unsure. She believed even when the path ahead was unknown.

Mary teaches us that carrying the Word means saying yes to God, even when it feels big and scary.

Inspiring Mothers Day Reflection

Hannah’s Bold Prayer

In the Old Testament, we meet Hannah, a woman who prayed with deep emotion. She begged God for a child. When God gave her a son, she gave him back to God.

Hannah’s story shows us that carrying the Word sometimes means letting go. It means trusting God to write the story, even if it looks different than we hoped.

Women in Santa Claus

In our own community of Santa Claus, Indiana, there are women living out their faith every day.

You might not see them on a stage, but you can find them:

  • Teaching little ones in the nursery
  • Dropping off meals when someone is sick
  • Organizing events at church
  • Sending texts to check in
  • Showing up every Sunday and praying faithfully

These women are not seeking attention. They simply follow God and love others.

Not Just for Moms

Mother’s Day gives us a reason to say thank you, but this calling is not only for moms. It is for grandmothers, aunts, teachers, mentors, and friends.

You do not have to raise children to raise faith. You do not have to speak loudly to speak truth. You just have to live a life that points to Jesus.

We are all called to carry something. God’s love. His grace. His truth. His Word.

When the Holiday Ends

Now that the brunches are over and the gifts have been opened, what comes next?

We keep going.

We keep noticing the women who carry the Word. We keep learning from them. We keep becoming more like them.

It looks like:

  • Sending a note of encouragement
  • Sharing Scripture with someone who is struggling
  • Showing up even when it is hard
  • Praying for others when they do not even know

If Mary could do it with a heart full of courage, and Hannah could do it through her tears, and women in Santa Claus are doing it in daily life, then so can you.

Scripture That Inspires

These verses remind us of the strength and beauty of a woman walking with God:

  • Proverbs 31:26 — “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”
  • Luke 1:38 — “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.”
  • 2 Timothy 1:5 — “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice…”

God has always used women to carry His message and shape His people.

A Simple Challenge

Here is something you can do this week:

  • Tell a woman in your life how her faith has helped you
  • Pray about how you can carry the Word in your own way
  • Talk about it with someone. Share your story. Share a verse. Share God’s love in action

Final Thoughts

Mother’s Day may be over, but the work of women of faith continues. In Santa Claus, we see it in every act of love, every whispered prayer, and every faithful step.

You carry more than tasks.
You carry more than titles.
You carry peace, strength, and grace.
You carry the Word.

And the world is better because you do.
