Throughout the long obedience of our faith, we carry within us the influence of the home we remember, the gifts of our past, and all the things that made us who we are. We can no more escape them than a turtle can escape its shell. At the same time, we live toward the future, always holding above and before us the hope of the home we dream: the promised day when God’s kingdom comes and God’s will is done on earth as it is in heaven and when God is fully at home among us.
