God the Initiator

Today’s Reflection

Prayer isn’t what we do to start a relationship with God. It’s not as if God is sitting back with arms crossed just waiting for us to make something happen. Prayer is a response—our response to God, who is already present in our lives.

—L. Roger Owens with Mary Clare Owens, Praying Their Way: 24 Prayer Practices for Kids and the Adults Who Love Them (Upper Room Books, 2026)
